The new web home page is a JOKE

I tried the beta and went back  to the good non beta that shows all the info I want in a manner I want to see it, then when i logged in this morning i was confronted with this

And on pressing the blue button I was confronted with this

This is of little use to me really as even with in focus turned on  as I have now gives me very little useful info like my dashboards used to

  • With your help, we'd be signed up to donate half our earnings to Garmin every month and say "thank you" every time they pour their piss down our throats and call it lemonade.
You do absolutely nothing to help the users. Show me where one user on here said "oh, that's how we can do it" and thanked you for telling them that they now have to click 3 times instead of 0 to see what they saw before right on their home screen.

  • They don't have to thank me for telling them alternate ways of doing things. I tell them and what they do with that is up to them. Either they use it to view their data or they just give up. That will show how important the data really was.

  • You justifying whats happened by providing a solution too a problem that did not exist before the update... Do you not see why folk are getting annoyed with you??

  • Yes, to all of this. I am a runner, and I got my first Forerunner in January. As I learned to use it, I customized the Connect homepage so that I could see my weekly, monthly and annual goals and progress all in one place -- in a way that was clear and also fun to use. That setup directly contributed to my consistently achieving and exceeding my goals over the last four months in a way that felt both smart and healthy, and it was an unexpectedly great feature that came with the watch. Ironically, I had just refined it on Monday evening, and on Tuesday I logged in to find all of that functionality was gone. Ugh. I can't imagine this redesign will be especially useful for anyone who is serious about their training, and I can't help but wonder if the product lead on this initiative is even a Garmin user. Joy  Oh well.

  • I can't see why they get annoyed with me. How it works now is a fact. So, using a workaround to view it will solve the current issue. Just access the data differently. For some users it will be hard to change, but Garmin will not change the interface back very soon. They will likely wait and evaluate over a longer time and see how the users starts to use the new Home page and evaluate legitime requests for change. Just changing back because there are a few upset users is not the way forward.

  • Yep thats what I expected you too say...Clueless!!

I would suggest you don't answer peoples posts further buddy...

, e7andy has been a forum member for many years, helping whenever possible. I understand that you're upset over the changes, but your personal attacks on forum members is not a good idea. Again, we want to keep the discussion open, so best to keep it civil and the hostility at bay.

  • To the mod I have also been a member for many years But Unlike the user you are defending I have never told any one to effectively suck it up etc... His entire attitude is enflaming the whole situation.. And I suspect he knows that he is...As too this part" so best to keep it civil and the hostility at bay. "  could you explain where I was not civil please??? I refrained from saying what many here would want to be said and most certainly kept it civil.

  • Probably shouldn't mention this as Garmin might shut it down but if you navigate to https://connect.garmin.com/modern/daily-summary/ it takes you to the old daily summary page and you can navigate to other days as before. Unfortunately, navigating to another page then tapping the 'home' button will load the new interface. Share this on any other threads on the forum but be prepared for Garmin to shut it down before long...!

  • I think you are missing the point completely. You are continuing to, and perhaps this is unintentional but I have my doubts, almost advocate that it is a good change. You do not know that these people have not written to Garmin to express their opinions. Your work arounds are ridiculous. The design of the home page on web is exactly the same as the app - that is not logical in and of itself. Why put the same thing that you have on a 6" screen on a computer screen what a waste of space. The data is now, as others have said, 3 clicks away when before it was 0, it was right there where you could see it. They made a change for the sake of change, they made zero improvements, they did not listen to their customers. Your attempt to offer 'solutions' is like rubbing salt in a wound, that is why they are getting annoyed with you. They shouldn't have to work around the issue that wasn't there until Garmin made the decision to ignore their customers and do as they please. Please just stop.

  • They made a change for the sake of change,

No, my impression is that the update is an economic decision. Garmin will merge GC Web and GC Mobile to reduce maintenance costs and effort. Since most users use GC Mobile with their cell phones, we can be glad that Garmin is not discontinuing GC Web.

From my POV unfortunately there is no hope that the new homepage will return to the old dashboard. Maybe we'll see a few small improvements, but that's about it. I think we've to calm down and cope with this.
