Multisport: Recognition of transition and editing

Hi all

I recently changed from wahoo to Garmin (watch, bike computer, sensors) because I wasn't happy with the automatic recognition of transitions in a triathlon. I was hoping that this is better with Garmin. Unfortunately, that's not really the case. So I'd really like to know some things:

- How is it possible that the watch starts recording rpms from the rpm sensor, but still thinks it's in T1 or swimming? It's obvious that I'm on the bike then...

- How is it possible that the watch does not realize that 0 rpm over a longer time might indicate that I'm in T2?

- And last but not least: I have a ton of electronic gimmics that cost a small fortune and work really well together, but for some reason I can't change the timing of a transition with a simple slider in the connect app? Why? Seriously? People have been asking this for years. It's pointless that I can shorten an activity if my whole bike session was recorded as T1. So how on earth is that still not possible?

Please make this possible. I can't imagine that it is technically impossible to implement and it's so easy to forget to press that button if you're in the middle of a triathlon...

Cheers
Ramy

  • Thanks for the step-by-step explanation! Sadly, I don't see the options "Trim Activity", "Edit Leg" and "Divide Leg". I can only change a leg type, for example from T1 to bike. But then I'm stuck. Now I have a multisport activity with swim, bike, bike, T2, run. Better than before, but still not ideal. Did you always record your activities as single sport activities and split them afterwards? Maybe you get more editing options if you do it this way.

  • Make sure you haven't clicked on any of the legs before you click Edit. Click the Multisport symbol left of the legs. But I tested to click the leg and then Edit leg and could then divide it into more legs so that didn't really matter much.

I've now tested it with a multisport workout.

    Click Edit.

    Then Edit legs.

    Select leg to edit.

    Select Divide leg.

And split the leg into another leg or transition.

It works just as with the normal activity.
