Garmin activities sync to Strava

Hi everyone,

Could someone please help me with some settings?

When my Garmin activities sync to Strava, the names are all in Chinese.

I have checked both on my iOS app and the web; they are all in English.

How do I change it?

    The names in Strava are set by Strava unless you got some external tool like ActivityFix that changes the name. I use ActivityFix to change all activity names in Strava to [[fit_name]]. If I let Strava set the names I will just get names like "Morning Run".

    The settings in Garmin Connect will not affect the names in Strava.

    My concern is regarding using another app to upload my activity, such as ‘WorkOutDoors.’ It seems fine with the activity name in English. However, on my Edge bike computer and Epix watch, both show English activity names in Garmin connect, but the same name appears in Chinese on Strava.

    Are the names in English in Garmin Connect?

    Download a FIT file from one of the activities that get a Chinese name in Strava and post it here. Then we can look into the file and see what is really sent to Strava.

    yes, they are in english on Garmin Connect.

    WorkOutDoors, the apple watch app? You export activities from that app to Garmin Connect, which are then synced to Strava?

    If that's the case, how does that relate to your Edge and Epix (since an activity from apple watch wouldn't show up on those devices). Do any of your activities show up in Strava in English?

    If your activities are titled in the wrong language, check that your email language is set to your desired language on Strava.com.

    What could I say! You just made my day!

    Thank you so much. Who would have thought a simple email language setting could change this?

    This is it. Now my Garmin activities on Strava are back in English.

    Regarding the Apple Watch app, it doesn’t go through Garmin Connect but uploads directly to Strava. All other activities from that app, Zwift, ROUVY, and others are in English. It’s strange how email language affects Garmin activities.

    Yeah that’s weird. Maybe other platforms have a language setting in their exported data but Garmin doesn’t?

    Strava never uses Garmin's activity names. They create their own ones.

    I understand that, but that doesn't really directly address the question of why the other data sources are in English.

    I don't use Zwift or ROUVY and it's been a while since I tried WorkOutDoors, but I would speculate one of the following:

    - Strava uses whatever activity names are used by those other data sources

    or

    - The other data sources do specify a language, which happens to be English, in this case

    or

    - Strava decided to default to English for the other data sources (but not for Garmin)
