Battery died mid-ride and device did not display ride to save once battery charged. FIT file now appears in "activities" folder when plugged into computer, but I get error message from attempts to manually upload. How to fix?

Battery on my Edge 840 died during a ride.  Unfortunately, upon charging the Edge, it did not display the ride to save.  It also does not display the ride in my ride "history" on the touch screen of the device.  But, when I plug Edge into computer and navigate to the "activities" folder, the FIT file for the ride is there.  So, I tried to manually upload to both Strava and Garmin connect but I'm getting error messages when I try to upload and it does not work.  I'm guessing the file is corrupt since I never actually saved it?  Is there any way to fix this?
