Multisport invalid file. Any way to fix?

Hi All,

I completed a multisport activity earlier today, but Garmin connect (and express) are refusing to upload the activity. I can see the activity on my watch, and it seems there is an additional section to the activity (one more than I expected).

I've tried using fitfiletools.com to repair the file but have had no success.

Any advice?

I think it has something to do with my selecting a predefined strength workout (as opposed to 'free') when I switched the activity to strength in the middle of the workout.

I tested again this evening with another multisport activity with a predefined strength workout, and Garmin again refused to upload the activity.

Afterwards I tried another multisport activity and selected 'free' when entering the strength workout section, and that activity uploaded without issue.

Perhaps a Garmin Connect bug?

Or could it be related to this issue (found on Reddit)?

"when I transition from strength to run, the activity starts immediately while the gps is not ready yet and all the localization is counted as distance run (i.e. adding 4km for couple if seconds while being stationary)."

Attach the activity fit file to this thread. We can take a look to see if it is repairable.

Zip the file, then in a reply post Insert >> Image/video/file >> click Upload >> browse for file >> OK.
Or upload the fit file to a reputable file sharing service, such as OneDrive, Google Drive, Dropbox, make the file public, then paste a link to the file in your post.

This will work - 2024-03-26-16-20-30-fixed.fit

Ran it through Fit File Repair Tool. I have seen an uptick in multisport activity issues.

Thanks, I’ll upload that shortly.

Were you able to identify the issue? I’d like to be able to avoid this happening again in the future. If you have been seeing increased numbers of invalid multisport files, then perhaps the best course of action is for me to avoid them!

Additionally, (for the sake of data completeness), I have another multisport test activity from yesterday that failed.

If the process doesn't take much time, I'd really appreciate it if you could fix this file, too.
