Garmin is showing I've been burning close to 15000 calories daily. The android app and windows Web. How to fix this?

How is this happening? I measure my weight weekly, on Tuesday. It is 72 kg today and it was 71.6 on the 5th of March). Suddnly the calories calculator went bat sh. crazy. How to fix this and how to recalulate this?
I'm using Garmin Fenix 6X Saphire. I have an Android app and I'm seeing the below on Windows Web.

EDIT: I have contacted the support and they were as "helpful" as ever. See for yourselves:

Hamzah:I have just checked a couple of things for you and there would not be a way to change the data which is wrong

Me:That's a damn shame. Why is it wrong?

Hamzah:If the data has resolved itself then I would reccomend keeping an eye out on this

Hamzah:Thanks for contacting Garmin today, If you need any further help please visit our Support Centre. I hope you have a good day!

  • Double check the weight. Have a look at https://connect.garmin.com/modern/weight/2024-03-12/1, whether the weight was really what it should be during all those days, and that the right units are used.

Besides the weight, verify also the age, and height at https://connect.garmin.com/modern/settings/userSettings, though I do not think those values could influence the Calories as significantly as the wrong weight. For example weight entered as 72 stones (457 kg) instead of 72 kg could cause such an important difference

  • Thanks for your reply. Weight, Age and height were fine (see below). But I think you are on to something. I can see that now the watch and the app are showing accurate data for today, but not for the past week. Could it been a comma issue? As in "." isn't recognized as a proper delimiter for decimal numbers by the web or the watch? And If that's the case how do I fix the past week's data?

It depends which decimal separator you selected in the settings at https://connect.garmin.com/modern/settings/displayPreferences

  • However, seeing the weight graph, the data seems to be all right, so frankly told I do not know where the problem comes from. I recommend reaching out to the Support, and asking them to look at the background data. Please let us know, here on the user forum, what they find out - the information may help others with a similar problem in future.

  • That's helpful, thanks. I will contact the support and post their feedback here.

  • I contacted the support and the guy just said it can't be fixed. Then he left the call before I could ask him any more questions LOL

  • Yes, that's right, once the Calories were recorded wrong, they cannot be fixed (and frankly told it is not that important), but the question is why they were recorded wrong. The screenshot of the weight does not show any excessive body weight, that would be the main suspect. Or was it originally set too high, and you already edit it, before making that screenshot?

  • No. The weight was recorded correctly from the get go. The only thing I can think of is the watch not recognizing the "." as a decimal seperator. It did show decimal values funny in the past, but would record the calories correctly. I have at some point last week edited (but not saved!) the weight on the watch. MAYBE that caused the issue.
P.S. Is recording calories inportant? If you want to keep a proper register of your progress, then I'd say so, yes. I can always edit that in excel before I upload it to Power BI.
    Anyways, thanks for your help.

  • Since yesterday my resting calories have dropped from 1631 to 1123, which is clearly wrong.

Same advice - check your weight (and the height, age, too). And double check you use the right units. If you enter the weight kg, but have set Statute units, then the Resting Calories will be much smaller than expected.
