Toasty badge not earned...

I know, we had this many times already. But I'm getting stuck with that "Toasty" badge.

During my activity the temperature raised up to 39.2 degrees and I did not earn the "Toasty" badge.... now I'm confused. I thought - ok, maybe it needs to be the average temperature - but then I asked friends, who already got the badge...  and they have averages of 37.3 - 39.1 for their activities. So it's not about the average temperature.

According to my activity the temperature (average 37.5) raised to 39.2 (I even took a photo with my phone during the activity..., since I was just walking that's ok).

I also checked the activity in the connect app (see shared link):

Garmin Connect

Unless there is something that I'm overlooking... shouldn't this give me the "toasty" badge?

Cheers,
Daniel

It does not matter how the temperature changed during the activity. It is only the starting temperature that counts. And it is not the one seen on the watch, it it is the temperature shown on the activity map that must be above 38°C. Yours is showing just 37.2°C.

A tip: use the function Change Sport to create a new leg of a Multisport activity, when the temperature raises, in order to get the badge. And in the case you do not have a watch supporting Multisport, start a new activity.

  • Hi,

thanks for your reply. But I don’t believe it has to do with the start temp… my running mate got the badge (not today) with the activity starting at 37 degrees…see screen. However the full run got a 38 mark in the screen for the activity (was a full run, no  splits for laps taken with the button).

But I’ll try with your tipp and see, where it leads me to. Thx!

Trust me. I know it. It is simply so.

The temp shown on the map shows the temperature at the starting point in the moment of the start. It is experimentally verifiable. That temperature comes from the Google Maps API, and may differ from the temperature your phone shows, and has absolutely nothing to do with the temp measured by the watch's internal sensor (your last black screenshot) - that one is influenced by your body temperature, and it is not the ambient temperature (unless you remove it from the wrist).
