It appears that my chest strap has stopped transmitting heart rate intermittently during activities. But, i still get a calories burned calculation. The times this has happened the calories burned result "seems high" to me. Of course i can't be sure it is inaccurate, but when it seemed unusually high was when i investigated and discovered that intermittently during the activity there was no heart rate data. Does anybody know how calories burned is calculated if no heart rate data is being transmitted? And, if it would tend to produce a result that is higher than that which might be produced when heart rate data is correctly transmitted?
Thank you if you have any insight on this topic.
