Again: I finished a Benchmark Run, it is registered as "Benchmark Run" in my Daily Summary, but not appearing in my training plan.

Hello,

As apparently many users before have indicated, when starting and finishing a Benchmark Run as it is uploaded on the watch after starting a training plan and synchronising with the watch, it is registered as "Benchmark Run" in Daily Summary, but not appearing in the training plan. As a consequence, the training plan does not get started, as the Benchmark run is considered as not done. Very frustrating, and even more frustrating is that Garmin still did not come up with a clear answer nor solution to this issue, after years. No, it is not a good idea to ask your customers to do the run again. This is very likely a software issue, or instructions that are nt clear, it is not a "customer does not understand it" issue.

So please, give us a workaround (the run is registered, so it should be possible to link it with the training plan) or please give us clear instructions on how to start the training plan and initiate the benchmark run. Clearly, when so many customers have an issue with this, and the problem would be that the customers does something wrong without knowing, there might be an issue with instructions given. Or there is a bug in the software that requires attention.

Thanks,

K.

  • Same thing is happening to me and Garmin does not care.

  • I just finished mine for the 2nd time, as I am trying to start a training plan also, and the same thing is happening to me. It's showing on my daily summary as my "benchmark run" as well, just as it did last night. Very frustrating!

  • I have done several of the training plans and have been frustrated with many things but never had an issue with the benchmark run. I have never created the plan in the web version of connect though only on the app. Maybe that is the issue? Do you get a coaching entry in your calendar from which start the benchmark?

  • Hello ! is there any chance to redo a "benchmark run"?

  • Hello ! is there any chance to redo a "benchmark run"?

  • I am a little confused, when you did the benchmark run did you start it from the coaching plan on your watch? Usually in the calendar it will be yellow/orange person with arms raised icon.

  • The activity is there, all good. I noticed that a pace was recorded incorrectly..then some approximation and adoption of the plan happened.

So I'm looking for a chance to correct that without disturbing the plan)

I know I can restart,  but I would like to redo that run..

  • The only way to redo the run is to restart the plan. You can't go back and do it again. Garmin won't let you, and you can't just create your own and add it in either. It is an issue that has been ongoing with the plans for many years and it has been a request that I have made several times to Garmin to be allowed but it never seems to change. The plans are adaptive, once you do the next runs if your pace is more accurate it will change to reflect that in the next week.

  • Yeah, thank you for the reply!

But plans tell you to follow its instructions..

Anyway there are some thing to enhance,  and they'll always be)

I can join you in any request on this topic if more votes needed for a feature)

  • I created the plan in the app and am having the same issue as OP.
