I started a “Garmin Coach 5K” workout with “Coach Greg McMillan”.
I performed the first training called "reference race" by covering the 5 minutes of running proposed for this session at an average pace of 4'45" with an average heart rate of 164 bpm.
The training plan now offers me several runs called "Easy Run" indicating a target pace between 5'20" and 5'57"
I then did a first training session: after warming up, I ran the required 35 minutes, at an average pace of 5'50".
However, while maintaining a "slow" pace (albeit within the proposed range), I recorded an average frequency of 152bpm (i.e. between the high Zone 3 and Zone 4), which although manageable, is anything but "easy".
Here's the doubt:
What is the right thing to do? What is the exercise asking me to do?
A. Run with a pace within the suggested range (5'20"-5-57")?
B. Or run at an "easy pace", i.e. Zone 2 (or at most low Zone 3)?
PS: My current Max heart rate is 190bpm, so:
Zone 2: 114-133
Zone 3: 133-152
Zone 4: 152-171
