Losing steps that were there earlier

I met my step goal of 8000 steps earlier today and the app stated I had 9045 steps but my watch only showed 7876. I restarted both my phone and watch, now both say 7876  steps.  This is not the first time this has happened to me. I have only had this for one month and am noticing lots of issues with this watch.

Any suggestions?

  • That can happen, when your watch reboots, or when the sync of the steps to the server fails, The value you see on the main screen (My Day) in Garmin Connect, is the live value, usually the same as shown on the watch. However, this value is not the one that was already synced to the server. To see the value that was already sent to the server, you have to tap on the Steps panel, and open the detailed Steps screen. The number of steps shown there, was already stored on the server, and won't disappear even if the watch reboots. I recommend always syncing and verifying the steps there, before going to bed. The watch may indeed reboot during the sleep - for example when a new update occurs, or due to a software bug & crash.
