Zwift rides upload to Garmin but not not added to Challenges

I used to have no problems for over a year. Then starting last fall when I would ride my Wahoo on Zwift, It sends data to Strava and Garmin Connect just fine with all statistics but it quit adding my virtual rides to my Challenges. Outdoor rides with my Garmin 830 and phone app are added to challenge but not Virtual Zwift.

  • An activity must be recorded on a Garmin device, or using Garmin's Tacx app. Activities recorded on 3rd party platforms do not count towards badges and challenges. Such are the rules, equal for everyone.

  • Well that change sucks. I see now that a lot of other virtual riders feel the same. I guess I will focus on Strava Challenges until this Spring when I am able to ride outdoors. A big setback on my achievement level progress in Garmin Connect! At least I can quit wasting time Looking for the fix!

  • I see now. It's all about the money! Garmin wants you to only use their platform "Garmin Tracx" Can I use my Wahoo system with Garmin Tracx for Windows?

No change, the rules were always the same. Just, in the far past, there was a bug, and in some cases some Zwift rides could slip through the checks. That's at least 3 or 4 years ago, though.

I do not think it is the main reason. The main reason is keeping the control over the consistency of data, which is not possible at 3rd party apps, and keeping the conditions identical for all users. Besides that, there is no reason why you could not use Zwift, and simultaneously record the ride on your Garmin device. There is no need for the Zwift map or elevation profile in Garmin Connect - it is pretty useless for the metric you need. Heart rate, and data from the power sensor (if you have one), is all you need in GC.

As long as your indoor bike has at least a speed sensor, then yes. I do it too. Although, as I wrote, you do not necessarily have to record it with Tacx. You can use your watch (or Edge).

  • You have been a lot of help! Thanks! So I am thinking about using my Edge. Create a profile on Edge for Virtual and sync Wahoo sensors for Speed, Cadence and Power ... as long as it will calculate distance as the bike is stationary. or it is all for not.
