Not working any more / Download activity data with links such as https://connect.garmin.com/modern/proxy/download-service/files/activity/xxx

Hi all,

I used links such as these to download my activity data with a script for a long time:

connect.garmin.com/.../xxx
connect.garmin.com/.../xxx
connect.garmin.com/.../xxx
connect.garmin.com/.../xxx

xxx stand für an activity id, of course. Since a couple of weeks these links do not work any more. Not sure about the reason, but would like to ask the community to check.

Can anybody of you download data using the links above?

Best regards Torsten

  • Yes, scripts are basically still the same, but new headers are required.

More info already posted, few months ago, in the old thread: Is there a way to export bulk data to TCX or GPX files? #1686599

  • Hi BunBun!

Thank you very much for reply. I have checked the old thread. This is very close to what I have done in the past and wish to continue. Main difference is that  I use VBS Scripts. Both solutions use URLs to work. No surprise.

I have checked the URLs in the old thread and have used them manually in firefox. I have added a valid activity ID from my account, of cource. This way I have tested https://connect.garmin.com/download-service/export/gpx/activity/13554418125 This does not work work - I get an error message from the garmin web site.

My understanding is that the URLs I have used for testing is compatible with "">connect.garmin.com/.../' a.activityId" in the old thread. But I am not familiar with Javascript. I conclude that either both or none should work. But I am not sure and this is why I would like to kindly ask for your help.  Could you please check: are you 100% sure the script in the old thread still works? I could have tried on my own, but I fear I would make make errors with the procedure to get the script running in firefox.

Thank you so much and best regards

    Torsten

  • Well, as explained there: DI-Backend and Authorization headers are required now and with those the scripts work.

Manually opening the link won't work anymore.

So you can check JavaScript and Python (change for headers here) and make similar - or maybe run such script as external command.

  • Hi BunBun!

Thank you so much. I have followed your advice during the weekend. Played with the Firefox Browser Console and had a look into some of your other postings as well. Learned a lot. The download mechanism using scripts in the Console works very well (no surprise for you). So, I am not sure any more if I will use VBS in future. Liked the option to make a Bookmark and add the scripting code to it.

There is much more to learn for me. You gave me a start. Again: thank you very much!

    Best regards Torsten
