Training status bug in garmin connect report

I have a running training program and in between go to the gym (strength exercise).

The report section of garmin connect has "training status" for all activities, and for running - but they are the same.

The running training status is updated after non-running activities (strength, elliptical, walking).

so first of all, it seems like a bug (collecting unrelated training load to running training status),

and additionally it would be nice to get custom activity groups for training status (to include running and walking, but nothing else. additional group for strength exercise, etc.).

Total training status (load) is completely useless if engaging in several unrelated activities.

  • It isn't a bug. That is how training status works. It will use the training load from all activities since they all will affect your training. It would be incorrect if it only used the load from running. Elliptical and walking are highly affecting the running. Strength doesn't usually give any high load so it will not affect the training status much, but it will put a load on your body.

  • I agree on option of adding walking and elliptical to training status,

but what's the point of having general and running training status if they are the same?

strength does effect the training status substantially (I get enough of strength work).

The problem with the metrics is that garmin tries 1 size fit for all aggregated metrics.

I know what I'm doing, but I have to manage separate excel file because garmin metrics so intertwined.

It is just for convenience so you can look at all the running reports in one place instead of having to switch to the other report category to the see the training status. It is the exact same for cycling. You can access the same training status report that way.
