I returned my Garmin Vivomove Sport watch yesterday (it was faulty) and purchased a Garmin Vivoactive 4S watch to replace it. I followed the instructions for adding the new watch and removing the old watch. I synched the data from the Vivomove Sport watch on GARMIN Connect before handing it back to the store. I then set up my new Vivoactive 4S watch and removed the Vivomove Sport watch, according to the instructions for situations when a device is returned to the store due to a fault.
Although I completed my daily step goal yesterday, the data from the Vivomove Sport watch (which was removed) was not added to my total step count for the day, so effectively I did not achieve my step goal according to Garmin Connect. See screenshot below.
Is there any way that Garmin can correct this error for me?
I believe the instructions advised by Garmin are incorrect. The instructions should say that you should NOT remove your old device until the end of the current day, i.e. midnight in order to capture the entire day's data. I think the old watch should even remain connected for at least one week after replacing the old Garmin device. You can choose to change the 'primary' device to your new watch and leave the old one there for an extended period of time even if you had to return it due to a fault.
By removing the old watch, I have lost a great deal of historical data for respiration rate, intensity minutes, heart rate, sleep data, Pulse Oxygen etc.
I look forward to hearing back from Garmin Support.
according to the Garmin Connect app on my Google Pixel 6a phone. My daily timeline states that I walked over 12,500 steps, yet the total step count was 10,257.
I don't know why this issue annoyed me so much!
