garmin swim 1 will no longer sync to computer.

I have 2 garmin swim 1 watches that i have been using without issue until this past weekend I updated as requested prior to trying to sync at which time my sync would no longer work. I researched the reason and was told to remove and reinstall the Garmin connect app which I did and now the app no longer recognizes my watch.

This is extremely frustrating as I can not access the data on the watch which is used to accurately follow my training progress. These watches work perfectly fine except for my inability to sync.

Needless to say I am extremely frustrated. What can I do to resolve this issue short of throwing away a good watch and replacing it with the latest edition.

  • If you cannot see the watch as a drive on a PC, then it is also possible that the cable is damaged,

The first Garmin Swim synced over ANT+ only. No cable connection to the PC.

    So I'd start troubleshooting…

  • Your post is a little bit confusing. The title tells you cannot sync to computer, while the post refers to the Garmin Connect phone app, and in the same time you posted on the forum for Garmin Connect Web (just an interface to the GC account, not syncing the watch at all). Do you have problems to sync with both Garmin Express (over the USB cable to a computer), and with Garmin Connect (over Bluetooth to a phone) too? Or do you have problems just with the phone app?

As for the phone app - before adding the device back to Garmin Connect, make sure you have remove the old instance from the list of Bluetooth devices on your phone (I mean the system menu in Android's or iPhone's BT Settings)! Once done, add the watch to Garmin Connect.

  • I am sorry for the confusion this is regarding the inability to sync to computer with garmin express. Then we I deleted the program on the computer and reinstalled garmin express it does not recognize my watch

  • Have a look at some basic troubleshooting tips at Outdoor Watch is Not Recognized by Computer or Garmin Applications | Garmin Customer Support

If you cannot see the watch as a drive on a PC, then it is also possible that the cable is damaged, or the connector contacts corroded. Try cleaning them with a 90% alcohol. Pencil eraser rubber does also a good job for cleaning the contacts. If it does not help, try getting a different cable.

Also, try restarting both the watch, and the computer. Or try with another computer - that could help excluding the cable as the culprit.

So I'd start troubleshooting with checking if the ANT+ stick is operational. I haven't checked myself recently, but I believe I saw a post somewhere that a recent Garmin Express update broke ANT+ syncing.
