Stop deleting my sleep data if I sleep multiple times in a day

The fact that you're only allowed one sleep session per day and it actively deletes your previous data with no user verification is infuriating to say the least. To back up a bit, I went hiking a few days ago and stressed my body to the max, my training readiness was 1 and body battery was 7 or so, so obviously I was exhausted. I go to sleep and sleep a solid 7.5 hours, wake up and go about my day (slowly), and get back in the afternoon and lay down, end up sleeping for another 3 hours.

Surprise! You slept for too long and this is no longer considered a nap, say goodbye to your old data, your new 3 hour sleep is your new sleep, and you can only have one sleep per day so choose between this one or go and manually edit the old one back. Of course getting the watch a couple weeks ago after moving over from Fitbit, I didn't realize this yet so double surprise, it's a new day and you can't edit your previous days data - you're not stuck with this as your permanent sleep for the day.

Now I understand this is primarily a fitness watch, not a health tracking watch - but still... Thinking about it more, I imagine sleep should be even more important to help manage your fitness! What if someone is going through a depression, and sleeps most of the day, or practices biphasic or polyphasic sleep and has two four hour sleep sessions a day for instance, the current implementation clearly wouldn't work for them.

Is there any plan to fix this? I absolutely love the rest of the watch; this part is really frustrating though, It's really hard to recommend it to someone like my dad for golf, when he also takes a couple hour long naps regularly and I know would track that data and of course it wouldn't be accurate, and it'd say he only slept two hours in a day when obviously this isn't the case - it sucks too because both my parents asked about it and a couple friends too when we did our hike (who would also sleep more than your "allotted" nap time).

Please tell me it's in the pipeline to fix this, I'll be fairly disappointed if it's not the case. I'd hate to have to go and find a second wearable (after paying $700-800) just to get (kinda) accurate sleep. On that note, any plans for improvements to the sleep algorithm? Coming from Fitbit the REM tracking seemed a lot more accurate (Fitbit telling me I got 1.5 hours, while Garmin says I got 27 minutes over a 7 hour period); I know The Quantified Scientist also has tested Garmin products fairly scientifically and puts them fairly middle of the pack at best for sleep tracking.

Rant over, TL;DR: Please allow better sleep tracking and multiple sleep sessions per day.

JFYI, you do not really speak to Garmin here, rather to other fellow forum users. If you want to pass a message to Garmin, I recommend contacting them directly…
