Adding (past) Official Event (Marathon etc) to Activity AFTER Event Occurred

In the past for major events like some marathons, I've found the event and added it to my Connect calendar on connect.garmin.com. Then when I run the race I later connect my activity to the event with the "Event: --" drop-down menu in the activity.

But I forgot to previously add the 2023 BMW Dallas Marathon to my calendar which was held on 12/10/23. So now I do not see a way to either A) add the event to my calendar as a past event or B) tie my activity to the event (since it's not in my calendar).

Searching for events to add... only allows me to search for future events it looks like.

So if a user forgets to add the event to a calendar prior to the event - that's it? Or is there some backdoor workaround or trick to add it I'm not seeing?

  • I find this function useless anyway. After I noticed that the route published there differs from the route on the organizer route. I contacted Garmin support and they confirmed that Garmin does not check the routes published in Connect for accuracy. I therefore no longer use this pointless "tool".

  • OK Thanks - So let me get this straight...

    A) You *HAVE* to add an event to your Calendar *BEFORE* it happens (or you're outta luck - no do-overs, no mistakes allowed!)

    B) You *CANNOT* add an event to your Calendar after the fact

    C) You *CANNOT* Associate or Link an event to an activity unless it was previously added to your Calendar (see above)

    D) If you manage to make zero mistakes, have a lot of foresight, and somehow get things perfectly loaded up - it doesn't really do anything anyway.

As I'm an imperfect human I was unable to link the event to my activity. So I wasn't able to get as far as you did to realize it does nothing anyway. Just some rabbit hole 'feature' I guess...

    Huh. I'll give this an

       'F' for fault tolerance

       'F' for software design

       'A' for wasting my time
