How to remove old Devices from Garmin connect - and no, none of the existing posts helped :)

Hey there! :)

I´ve tested a Fenix 7X pro, a Fenix 7, an Epix Pro ...and now settled with a 7X Pro Sapphire. Unfortunately, all of those devices still appear in my device list and sometimes even on the dashboard, while of course they were wiped, are not connected anymore and don´t send data.

Within Garmin Connect Web, I can´t delete old devices. Within the android app under Garmin devices, I just have my fenix 7x pro sapphire as a device that I can delete - the other devices are listed there as "registered on Garmin connect"...if i click on them, I get to a page where I could "add the device", but those three dots at the top are not available (see screenshots). So as it seems, I cannot get rid of those old connections, at least not as suggested by Garmin here and here

Any advices on how to get rid of those? :)

  • Well, the text on the screenshot tells you did not pair the watches on this phone, so perhaps it is the reason. How does it look when you click on the watch symbol in Garmin Connect Web, then on the respective watch in the list of devices, and then on the cogwheel symbol? I have the following options there:

I usually just use the option "Retire", because I prefer keeping the history of my devices, and not removing them entirely from the list. The removing works though, too.

  • I‘ve just tested your problem with my registered very old Edge 1000.
Using GC Mobile I’ve got the same pages on my iphone, you have posted above.
But it seems to be possible with Garmin Connect Web:

    open GC Web
tap onto the watch symbol on top right
now your watches should appear as registered devices
    tap onto the device picture
    the device page opens
tap on top right the cogwheel (Zahnrad)
now there is an option „remove device“

    Edit:  was faster… Joy

  • hey Trux! Sorry for the late reply, I was on a business trip! :) The strange thing is: I indeed paired ALL devices on the very same phone. Thanks for pointing to the small cogwheel though, I haven´t seen it. This way I was able to get rid of the Epix Pro - but unfortunately the 7 Pro is not listed there (it´s just listed in the connect mobile app). So the status quo is: I have my Fenix 7X pro sapphire in use, the 7 Pro is still listed in connect app, the epix is out. That´s...progress. :) I´m wondering how to proceed now...

  • hey mcinner1! see my reply to Trux - thank you very much! I´m now trying to fix the rest..

  • I´m wondering how to proceed now...

First of all verify that you really use the same email address in GC web as in the phone GC app. There is no reason the list of devices would differ, since both apps are just interfaces to the same account. The hints for finding the address can be found here: Can I Verify What Email I am Using for the Garmin Connect App? | Garmin Customer Support

And even if they are identical on both sides, sign out from both of them, force to stop the app, restart, and then sing back in. Sign in to GC Web too, with the same credentials, and check the list of devices again. If that alone does not help, try reinstalling the app. If still not OK, contact the Support.

  • Hey Trux! Thx! I of course just have one account and I already did all of the following steps - but it now got fixed "miraculously": It seems like in garmin connect web, there are just visible slots for TWO devices in the dropdown menu of the watch icon at the top. The moment I´ve got rid of the Epix, it took a while for the system to populate the second slot again with the remaining (third) device (i don´t know how long it took - I was checking yesterday & it wasn´t yet there...an hour ago it appeared in the drop menu).
All in all the Garmin Software seem to work fine...until it doesn´t. I didn´t have any hickups in the past, but with the Fenix 7 Pro Sapphire I now stick with, it doesn´t feel that well balanced. There´s another issue I´m currently struggling with (if it persists, I will open up another thread on this forum): To get a successful sync, I have to trigger the sync again on the device level in Garmin Connect. This is what I mean by that: On your start screen of Garmin Connect, there´s that "sync" button in the top right corner - right next to it is the icon of the active watch with that green dot on its "sync circle" (see pictures for reference). normally, you can hit the sync button, which will start to spin, and after a while that "sync circle" around the watch will finish too - boom, we are synced.
With my Fenix 7 Pro SS, i can hit sync, it spins...but nothing happens. If I click on the watch, i can see the sync progress bar (which doesn´t move). If I now click on that bar, I get to the settings menu of the watch, where we can find ANOTHER sync icon at the top (as usual). If i hit THIS sync button, the progress bar on the former page starts to move, the "sync circle" on the start page does the same and after a few seconds, we are synced.

Summary of the problem: I have to hit sync on the device level within Garmin connect in order to sync correctly. This gets reflected in Garmin IQ as well - If I download a watchface, i have to go back to garmin connect, go onto the device page, hit sync there and THEN I get the watchface.

    What I already did:

    - cleared cache

    - deleted garmin connect / Garmin IQ and reinstalled

    - deleted the device in garmin connect web and reconnected it

    - updated via garmin express
