Software like Zwift has become a way of life for many of us. Garmin is missing an opportunity. How cool would it be if you worked with Zwift and had a virtual Garmin display within the program with customizable datafields?
Or what about if Zwift could feed info back to my real Garmin such as the game GPS coordinates, speed, power, etc and the head unit could do it's typical TSS, Intensity Minutes, training load, calculations?
Or, if I own a Garmin headunit that does something like calculate Intensity Minutes or TSS, but the activity comes over from Zwift, just calculate it on the backend with my "license" from the headunit.
Right now it just feels very incomplete. Using my real Garmin for Zwift is dumb, doesn't catch the map, or Zwift speed and distance, or elevation, but if I let Zwift send the FIT file over to Garmin, then I miss a lot of the metrics Garmin calculates, such as TSS. And we all know how limited the HUD in Zwift is compared to using a Garmin in IRL. Seems the only way I can really comprehensively get everything is to dual record and then merge the FIT files afterwards. I did that for awhile, but in 2023 that seems so unnecessary. Heck, even a "Merge two activities" function would be a start, then at least dual recording would be less of a hassle.
Consider this opportunity. I'm honestly surprised something like this has not happened yet.
