How to create custom workouts combining Step(1) running outside , Step(2) various Strength trainings inside gym?

I regularly do a set of training in my town as following.

I appreciate your kind advice if it is possible by Garmin connect to create custom workouts that combine all following 3 steps.

Step1) Running: From home to the gym, outdoor free running course. The route and distance are dependent on the day. Typically I run 3 -5 km. So I don’t have particular target distance or time but technically I can put 3km as target if required by app.

Step2) Strength training workouts: when I arrive gym, I start machine trainings menu; such as 3 sets each for weighted chest press, rowing machine, abdominal sit up, hyperextension etc. Gym training menu is routine, thus Garmin’s custom workout is useful.

Step 3) Running: From gym to my home with random route 3km

< What I tried so far / But was not ideal >

  • I tried create custom workout: But when I chose ‘Running’ first then I could not add strength trainings.
  • I tried with Create custom workout > Strength training > add ‘Run’ as one of workouts and tried to add other various strength trainings in the gym. But this also was not suitable because the ‘Run’ seems slightly different from normal ‘Running’ activity. It request me to put weight information probably because it is assuming some kind of weighted run exercise in fitness gym.
    also the watch face does not come with normal running functionality to track and record speed, pace, distance… etc., but rather it is trying to keep weight or repetitions of ‘run’.

  • I also tried to do Multi sports function. But this also did not work. GARMIN does not list custom workouts that I created such as the gym training menu I created for Step2) above.  I know I can start using Running and the change activity by holding start button right top to switch activity; but unfortunately Garmin does not list user defined custom workouts in the choice thus this did not work. I could chose to switch to default strength training activity but it is a problem because I have to manually put all trainings and weight information after the training one by one.
