No sick mode - should I switch to Oura or Apple health?

I’m having difficulty finding a way of stopping notifications and pausing daily goals while sick.  It seems like this should be pretty standard and there have been several posts about it.

Does Apple Health or Oura take sickness more seriously?  Wondering if I’m making a mistake by using Garmin for health tracking

  • A missed daily goal is a missed daily goal no matter the reason. Do you mean that streaks should pause during sickness and continue afterwards?

There is no sick mode in Garmin. You can pause training status and plans, but they will continue in the background since life continues even if you are sick. A race will not be moved to a later date because you are sick. Instead the status and plan will adapt to your body all the time.

  • That makes sense and thank you for the response!  I think we just have different goals - I'm focused primarily on long term health and starting/maintaining an exercise program.  Working on when sick seems counterproductive and could lead to injury / prolonging the illness.  I'm not focused on individual races more just getting back into working out and there are many options for races around me.  At least having the option of pausing metrics / tracking while sick seems reasonable and taking that option or not can be left to the user

On compatible watches, you can pause the Training Status. Not sure whether you need to pause anything else. As for the goals - it is rather easy to edit the goal, if you feel it is needed.
