Nonsensical segment times on the web page. What is going on?

Just finished a ride, during which I passed through a segment. When I finished that segment during the ride, my Edge 830 reported segment time of 0:53. I can open ride history on the Edge, find that ride and that segment, and it still shows "0:53".

Now, when I look at the list of segments for this ride in Garmin Web interface, it says that it took me "1:12.9 min" to ride the same segment. The difference is too large to be explained by any calculation errors. So, what is this nonsensical "1:12.9 min", where does it come from? What is going on here?

  • Maybe compare with the map which one is correct.

  • Could you pelase clarify which kind of comparison are you suggesting?

Today I rode the same segment in 0:52. My Edge 830's "History" shows it as 0:52 and marks it as a personal record. But when I go to Garmin Web and find my today's ride, this segment is shown as 1:13. What gives???

  • Manually check times on segment's start and end, for example by hovering cursor over charts (it's not perfect as it moves by few seconds, but could be good enough, or for more accuracy some external GPX editor/viewer).

Or if you ride it often - then just press the Lap button on start and end.

Maybe difference could be from not exactly following the segment, you can still get a match even if you miss some part, but then time may be erroneous, so also check if your path fully match it.
