Sharing single activities

I'm a little confused as to what and how to share various information regarding my rides with others.  This sharing would be with people who do not have a Garmin account.  I would like others to be able to see more of my ride metrics but I don't want to broadcast my personal information all over the Web.  Also, it seems like I can only share with "My Connections" or "Everyone".  I do have others setup as "Contacts" but not "Connections".  Is there a way so that I can share my rides with only people in my "Contacts" and not the whole world?  I am currently sharing my rides with them trough my Garmin 530's ride tracking feature but I would like them to see more.

It just seems like sharing for anything other than "Connections" is an all or nothing proposition.

  • Is there a way so that I can share my rides with only people in my "Contacts"

No, you can do it only with Connections (having a Garmin Connect account). It means if you want to share an activity with someone who does not have a Garmin Connect account, then they will have to create one. If I remember well, that's possible even without having a Garmin device. Once they have a GC account, you can add them as Connections, and share the activities with them.

  • Thanks.  I did a little more research and it seems that I can send a link to virtually anyone.  The only thing is that the link is not exclusive to that person or protected by any kind of user/pwd login.  It's ok, I'm just forwarding the link and sharing only the rides I want to.  BTW,  I checked out the link and confirmed you can only see the 1 activity I sent.  You do not get access to any of my history etc.

  • Sure, you can share individual activities with "Everyone", but you wrote you did not want that solution since it exposed the data publicly. If you do not mind that anymore, then of course, it is the simplest solution.
