Can't upload a *.fit file at the activity import

Hi,

I just wanted to upload an activity exported from Strava (*.fit). Did this already before. But the fit-file is grayed out when I want to select it in the file explorer view (I use Android and as mentioned it worked before).

Is this a new bug?

Cheers

Daniel

  • Strava files often don't work. If you've already tried a manual upload to Garmin Connect Web, we can take a look to see if it is repairable.

    • Zip the file, then in a reply post Insert >> Image/video/file >> click Upload >> browse for file >> OK.
    • Or upload the fit file to a reputable file sharing service, such as OneDriveGoogle DriveDropbox, make the file public, then paste a link to the file in your post.
  • Thx! Problem is rather that I can't even select any fit file

  • From a desktop computer with Internet browser, are you able to open the activity in Strava then export original?

The result will be a fit file.

Then use Garmin Import Data to import into Garmin Connect Web.

I just tried it to verify that this still works. How was the strava activity created originally? If you have trouble doing this then attach your file here so we can see what might be wrong with it.

  • Thx for the walk trough! I use my Android phone for this and this is exactly how I did it. Where I stop: when I click on the Garmin import data screen to browse, I can't select fit files. All files are grayed out. I imported the file successfully in Runalyze.

  • I am experiencing this same exact issue. Started about 5 days ago. Worked fine up until then. The files are there and I can import them on other sites just not on Garmin connect. They are grayed out and can't be selected for import/upload. Also an android user, using chrome as browser but also tried with dolphin browser neither works. Only have problem with Garmin connect site.

  • FYI, I installed Firefox browser for Android and that works. So it's an android/chrome issue for me.

  • I believe  is correct. It's likely an issue with Chrome. If you want to continue to use Chrome to access the Garmin Connect Web on your android phone, I suggest clearing data in the Chrome app.

  • In my own case cleaning the chrome cache and data was one of my first troubleshooting steps and that did not resolve the issue. However after resolving the issue in a different browser I checked the last time chrome updated. It updated the same day this issue began for me. So short term I will use Firefox till chrome updates again then retest.

  • It worked for me both before and after clearing Chrome cache. Perhaps due to differences with Chrome and/or OS versions.
