Is there a way to add a preset rest period between sets when I create a custom workout? If you just record a strength exercise, it automatically sets a rest period. Not so when creating a custom workout from within Garmin Connect. How come?

Should you decide to create a custom workout from within Garmin Connect, you are not able to create a spcified rest time between sets.  Often, when moving from one exercise machine to another, the Venu SQ starts counting reps that have not been done.  Should you choose to jus record a strength workout from the Venu SQ, you can select to rest between sets and the watch counts down the time until you select "B" to move to the next set.  Afterwards, you can view the workout from Garmin Connect, but have to spend the time editing each set to attach a exercise name.  Seems like a big waste of time.  The watch already has the rest time function built in.  Why not add a programable rest period between each set that can be pre-programmed in Garmin Connect?

  • Agreed. I have experienced the same problem. Further to this if I try program in rest stages in place of sets I soon hit the maximum number of items allowed in a workout. So it's either manually going back and changing things or changing my workout to fit what the software allows. Not exactly what I want.

Are you not using rounds with sets and rests within the round?

  • Rounds only allow for the same weight and reps for each set. I want to have progressively higher weight and lower reps on each set.

    i.e.

    20kg for 15 reps

    30kg for 10 reps

    40kg for 8 reps

    45kg for 6 reps

  • Yep, totally frustrating to hit the 50 item max when trying to add rest periods for instance between supersets when you want the higher weight and lower reps.  I have a simple chest and tri workout with 2 single sets, three super sets and one giant set and cannot set it up as a workout in Connect because of this limitation.  Ridiculous.
