Garmin Segments - leaderboards

The Forerunner 955 is my first smartwatch and I'm happy with it. In addition to many different features, I have also tried using Garmin segments and everything works according to the user manual - If the Garmin segment's activity privacy is set to "Only Me", it does not appear in the leaderboards. My result will only appear in the leaderboard if I set the privacy to "Everyone" (Activity is visible to the public). It's not a problem for me, and it's according to the Garmin Connect manual. But I found that most other users have their results in segment leaderboards, even though they only share some information publicly. Does anyone know how they did it?

  • Just single chosen activity must be public to be displayed on a segment's list.

You can always click on a date on a segment's list to see an activity which gave such time, everybody there must have them public.

Other data can be hidden, like data on a profile. So you may see an activity from a leaderboard, but you may not see it linked on a profile.

As  wrote, you can set the visibility of individual activities independently on your global settings, and regardless whether you share any info on your Public Profile.

Open the concerned activity and click the padlock icon in order to change the visibility:

  • Thank you so much BunBun! and trux for your answers to help me clarify how it works. I tried it and now I fully understand it.
