Add Diving to the sidebar

I'm thinking of purchasing a Descent dive computer next year and have started adding all of my old dives into the Garmin Dive app.

I have a Navionics account and erroneously accessed Garmin Connect while logged in to that account and it asked my what activities I wanted to set up. I thought I was still logged into my usual account and thought this was a new feature, so selected "Diving". This resulted in the following side bar:

However, in my "normal" account (which i've been using since 2013 or so), the sidebar looks like this:

I don't play Golf, so I'd like to remove that (I never remember selecting it), and would like to include Diving instead. Does anyone know how to do that? I've reached out to Garmin Support, but they're ignoring my email. Disappointed

Thanks,

simon

  • I think you can only select disciplines supported by your device. Golf is enabled automatically, as soon as you own a device supporting Golf. I guess your Navionics device is used by divers too, hence the diving option may be available there. You will probably have to wait till you purchase the Descent.

I've reached out to Garmin Support, but they're ignoring my email.

It may take a few days, but if you are in a hurry, call them, or use the chat option.

  • There are roles for that, for diving it's "ROLE_DIVE_USER", but duno if you can change those later by settings.

Maybe when you add a diving watch it will add that role too?

Someone posted a screenshot of the menu from creating an account: Edit features, but probably it's not accessible later.

  • ... you can also try adding the Navionics device to your standard account, and see whether the Diving option is then enabled automatically or selectable manually, and whether the option remains in the account even if you then remove the device from the account again.

  • i understand what you mean. only hitch: the navionics account isn’t associated with *any* device.

ill have a look at GCoverrides and the API as suggested in the other post.

    Thanks!

  • I do not maintain GCOverrides since a few years - it needed too much maintenance after every new GC Web release (~once a month), and there were too few users. I have something else in the works though, but it is not ready yet.
