Coach Amy HM plan. How did it work out?

My take regarding coach Amy..

I started a 20 weeks training program for a HM with a target time of 1:45h.

It started with lots of slow runs and later on, after 8 weeks or so, with intervals and also a run of 22.5KM (why!?!?). Currently the HM is in 1 week from now but so far Amy did not let me train or run on a pace of 5:00/km which is the speed required to finish the HM 1:45h. So basically I have no feeling with the required average speed, I don't see how this can become a success and suddenly also the confidence indicator dropped from purple to just in the green. I did put my trust in this training program but found it really annoying that you could not look further then 1 week in the future, every time I was hoping for a better trainingschedule which didn't came. If I would have had more insight in the future trainings then I would probably have quit this training program after a couple of weeks.

Maybe a miracle will happen next week which will make me finish in 1:45h if not, then this program is just trash.

  • I did a Coach Amy 10K plan.  I put no goal, just "to complete it" all the workouts through the whole plan were walk/run. It felt pretty limited.

  • My wife used Amy with a finish time of sub 2h for the Half. I thought the plan was not very well structured, exactly what you described. Too long on the long runs and if you ask me not enough threshold type of work. However, my wife managed a 1:56 and could have finished in under 1:55 if she wouldn’t have waited for her friend who was struggling.
that being said, my wife’s PB is a 1:55 for the half but she didn’t run for almost two years.

  • Confidence indicator dropped further in the last days to about the midlevel. At the end i finished 1:56. So maybe we can say that the confidence indicator was incorrect for the first 18 weeks and more correct for the last two weeks. Anyhow it failed
