but did not find anything related with the number of steps on a run
As mentioned, use a Connect IQ app, then you will see the number of steps on a run. For example - tx Activity STEPS |…
I use the "Steps to fit" IQ data field.
You can use the free site https://www.runalyze.com. It syncs with your Garmin Connect account and shows steps for running and walking activities.
Also, Strava will show steps, but only for walking activities…
Are you referring to while you are in an activity? If so, you can set up a data field for steps. Directly from your watch or using the Garmin Connect Mobile app: Device settings > Activities & Apps > Run > Data Screens > Add Data Screen (or use a current screen) > Data Field > Other Fields > Steps
If you're referring to viewing your total steps after the activity within Garmin Connect, you can install a CIQ app that will do just that. Just search for steps and you'll see several - Connect IQ Store | Free Watch Faces and Apps | Garmin
Thank you for your reply. I was asking how to view the total steps on an activity (run/walk...) after finishing. As far as I can see, I can only view the total steps on the day, but not the steps that are part of my run... Your reply is helpful as far as I remember to look at the counter before saving the activity....
I have tried to find that information on Garmin Connect (web and mobile), but did not find anything related with the number of steps on a run...

You can also just manually multiply your activity average cadence by your activity time in minutes. I *think* this is what runalyze and strava do.
That is great, I was not aware that STRAVA did that. Thanks for the info
