Help: Calorie Counting.

Dear all ,

Something has changed in the last few weeks and i am not sure what.  basically the calorie count on my edge 1040 activities is not transferring to the "main system / connect "   So yesterday, while my ride use around 4000 (yes I rode 200km/125 miles) but my total count for the day was 3000.    What I think is happening is the "system/ connect" is using the calories count base off my heart rate / fenix7 watch which is not recording an activity and not the activity which is recorded by the edge.   The Edge number corresponds with my manual powermeter/time calculation, at this level of endurance heart rate alone is not accurate.

The thing is these numbers are important to me, to help ensure my calorie consumption is near to my needs and i done build deficit that could start to degrade muscle.  (I am also sure people dieting would be frustrated.)

Any thoughts on what to check greatly appreciated

  • Alternative to double recording is to not wear the Fenix while riding. This is what I will revert to again as it is not fixed

  • After a few days of testing the new updates that said this was fixed I can confirm that it is not 100% fixed.  Some days it works fine others it doesn't.  Example todays ride active calories 691. Dashboard shows 598 active calories.

  • Anyone confirm that this is working or not now after last Edge 540.940 and 1040 software update two days ago?

Myself are still double recording with my Fenix 7x and not tried only Edge device again...

  • It’s actually worse. Intensity minutes are also now incorrect across devices. This is while not wearing the Fenix and recording on the Edge 840. I believe the only approach to get correct data now is to double record, which for me defeats the point of owning the Edge. Unacceptable at the cost of these devices :-(

  • Totally agree that this is unacceptable.

Garmin has been in touch with me directly and asked for more details, including a data dump of my device, which I provided. This was over two weeks ago and to this date no news.

The bug is still there and to me it feels like they don't really know what to look for.

  • This sucks.... I never got the thing to not wear my F7x while riding because when i got home and sync, the same problem for me. What i do now to get this 100% and a workaround is: Record with both units, then save only F7x when finished. Then Delete F7x file form GC and watch and then save Edge 840 file. My calories and Intensity minutes etc are now 100%. I Reported this problem  problem the week 840 got released and that is about 5-6weeks ago. Very strange that garmin has releases two firmware updates and this is not fixed....

  • Same with me.. Sent a lot of files etc.. They released two firmware updates after the "ticket" and still no solution, very strange from garmin that's usually very solid!!!!!

  • Yeah I agree this is unusual for Garmin... seems to be made worse with each release. Hope it's fixed soon as I am tempted to request a refund for the 840 as it is a wasted purchase for me, having to double record I could have continued to do the same workflow with the 530

  • Hey Garmin Team … it's ridiculous!!! Today … part of HR data were synced. Calories not counted in GC. ARE YOU AWARE that your so-called „eco-system” is useless? Fine if you have only 1 Garmin’s device (which now I recommend) …

  • this is still not fixed. how are they releasing new watches except they cannot get caloires burned accurate on 2 devices. what is going on.
