The elevation on my Garmin Forerunner 945 has been showing incorrectly on runs and rides for a few months now. It always seems to have a steep incline at the start and be all over the place. For example, when I do an out and back or a track run it’s fairly obviously wrong and doesn’t look like anyone else’s I run with! I always wait for the GPS to go green before I start the activity. Please help, what I can I do to sort this issue?
this was today, it was an out and back run so clearly the elevation should be mirrored. I followed a river path and retraced my steps almost exactly.
It could be due to a number of reasons - barometric pressure rising in the same time (the pressure sensor does not distinguish between changes caused by the elevation, and by the weather), big temperature changes, clogged sensor port, strong wind affecting the pressure reading, ... In such cases, turning on the Elevation Corrections and using the topographic elevation profile may be more accurate.

Thank you, I followed the steps on your link and it appears to have corrected itself showing what the elevation profile should have been based on topo data.
Surely, there is something wrong with the watch as it’s clearly very different?
Is there a way you can enable Elevation Corrections for future activities?
