Connect / Komoot synchronization

Hi everyone

I use for years Komoot to create new routes for both MTB and road bike

In the pass Garmin Connect imported the last 50 routes created in Komoot ... even if, on my point of view, 50 is not enough (I try to ride at least twice a week all the year)
But it seems that Garmin Connect is now limiting the import to the last 20 routes created in Komoot.
I suppose that the same restriction applies also to Strava

Does anyone from Garmin team can confirm and explain the motivation for such a change?

Cheers

I am not aware of any new limitation of 20 courses, but practically certainly nobody from Garmin will comment here, on the user forum. Rather contact the Support directly by phone, email, or chat. You'll get the contact info for your region at https://support.garmin.com

BTW, why don't you simply delete the old courses from the watch, before uploading new ones? If you really need a big number of courses directly on your device, you could upload them by batches of 20, 50, or whatever number is possible. Once uploaded, move the fit files in the folder //GARMIN/Courses/ to a local drive, and repeat the cycle as long as needed. Once you export al courses you need, copy them back from the local drive to the Garmin device, and test whether you can see all of them in the navigation menu.

  • Deleting files from Garmin device don't change anything as the issue is with Garmin Connect witch synchronize with the device
The solution should be to have a spare folder of courses in Komoot format and that seems to be not so easy!

That's exactly why I suggested uploading all the Komoot courses to the device in batches of 20 (or whatever else max number possible), always making place for a new batch. With this method you convert all your Komoot courses to the FIT file format that the watch uses, and then put them all back on the watch.

  • Komoot does not offer the possibility to store existing courses and Garmin import the last 20 created courses. In fact: if I have a course in Garmin Connect, I can store the FIT file from my device and then delete the course in Garmin Connect ... but I have still 19 courses in Garmin because the deleted one was part of the 20 last created.
In practice I need also to delete it from Komoot!

Why do you think so? I have more than 50 saved (planned) courses in Komoot, with no problems.

Garmin import the last 20 created courses

Garmin does not import anything. It is Komoot that sends the courses to Garmin Connect. There is no limitation of the number of courses in Garmin Connect. At least I did not reach any limit yet, and I have plenty of them. It is the decision of Komoot to upload only the last 20 planned courses. However, you can add any additional courses by importing them manually as GPX files. Or you can send then to the device, and then loading new ones from Komoot, uploading a new batch to the device again, exactly as I already described.

Although there is no limit in Garmin Connect, there is a limitation of max 50 courses on the device (may vary from device to device), but it can be bypassed by the way I described.

Alternatively, you can also install the Connect IQ Komoot app, and load Komoot tours directly from your Komoot account, bypassing Garmin Connect entirely.
