Follow elevation gains

As a skimo racer and trail runner, I would love to have a way to follow my elevation gains. I do not care about distance, but I would like the same kind of statistic view for my elevation gains. I'd like to see it in the calendar view on garmin connect and in the history view on my fenix 6 watch.  The only way I have now is on the progress report, which is great, but longer to get to for an everyday progress check.

You have also the Total Ascent reports (7 days / 4 weeks / 6 months / year): https://connect.garmin.com/modern/report/35/running/last_seven_days

For report directly on the watch, check out the Connect IQ store - I am sure there apps matching your needs. Search for expressions like "ascent", "elevation", "altitude", etc. Just the keyword "ascent" reveals 183 matches: Connect IQ Store | Free Watch Faces and Apps | Garmin, and I bet that at least a few of them will offer you the desired information.

  • Hello Trux, the proposed report is for running only.  I need all activities which is why I use the progress summary.  As for Garmin Connect, I checked, but nothing's giving me the total ascent per week, month, year.  You usually have calories, steps, distance, but never total ascent.  I think Suunto and Coros both have it natively.  More and more people are tracking ascent instead of km.

  • As for Garmin Connect

I did not mean Garmin Connect, but the numerous 3rd party apps in the Garmin Connect IQ store. I'd be surprised if there is no app offering what you are asking. Did you look at the link I posted, or searched the store using different keywords?

  • yep, sorry about the writing error, I meant IQ.  I clicked on the link and already have some apps on my watch.  Really surprising not to find anything.  Guess it's a bit harder to program than it sounds.

  • OK, I see. You may suggest it on the CIQ Developer forum, perhaps some of the developers will be willing to code it: https://forums.garmin.com/developer/connect-iq/f/app-ideas. And you can send a suggestion to Garmin too: Share Ideas | Garmin

... BTW, you can also add a Total Ascent panel to the Dashboard in Garmin Connect web - you'll see the total ascent over all activities, both in graphical and numerical form, without having to run the Progress Report, which takes quite a few clicks:

  • Thanks for the recommendations!!!  Just tried the Dashbord report and it does the job!    Ideally I would have that at multiple places, but that's a great start!  Will follow your tow links and post the ideas.
