Indoor cycling activity uploaded from MyWhoosh not adding to acute training load

I have been using MyWhoosh app for indoor cycling and whilst I upload the .fit file to Garmin Connect so I can view all the activity stats recorded on the Tacx Neo2, the activity does not add to my overall acute training load on GC ... so obviously the algorithm that calculates the steady increase/decrease in optimal load is incorrect.

Is there a workaround for this, or can it actually be uploaded so that it automatically adds to the acute load just like any other activity?y

Thanks in advance

  • Is there a workaround for this

Record the activity with a Garmin device. Using the Tacx app should work too, I think.

  • Thanks  I'll give it a try.

Any ideas why GC simply won't accept the .fit file data?

  • 3rd parties do not necessarily use the same methodic and the same algorithms as Garmin for calculating the training effect, hence this data will be used only from approved and certified applications, to assure the data compatibility (the Training Effect/Load data must be processed by the device or app, and included in the fit file - the TL is not calculated in Garmin Connect). Currently, there are only the following apps that send the necessary data to Garmin, and are approved: Tacx, Zwift, Rouvy, and TrainerRoad. • Thanks again.

Although it does seem odd/frustrating that Garmin can't simply accept the raw data and process it, as it displays all the activity data in exactly the same way as when recorded on my Garmin devices.

  • Garmin Connect doesn't do any calculations. It is all done on the device. That is why you must log it with a Garmin device or the Tacx app.

The way it works for some 3rd services (Zwift for example) is that Zwift uploads the data to Garmin Connect. That data is then downloaded to a Garmin device that do the calculations and then send it back to Garmin Connect. If MyWoosh want to do the same they should talk to Garmin.

  • Ah, that makes sense re: device.

Be good if the 2 co's linked up.

    Thanks

  • The data processing happens on the watch in real-time during the workout, the app has no capability of processing any data, it is merely a viewer of the data. So if the fit file does not include the TL or other data, there is no way Garmin Connect could display it. Data from certified 3rd parties may be re-processed by your Garmin device.

  • Gottit thanks.

At least I know now. Thanks again for the swift and clear answers
