Calorie burn per 1000 steps suddenly halved

Saturday 28th January, 10,000 steps, no other activities = 316 active calories = 31.6 cal/1000 steps

Tuesday 31st January, 6291 steps, no other activities = 86 active calories = 13.6 cal/1000 steps

I usually hit my steps goal (10,000) and the calorie burn is consistently the same/similar. Suddenly it has halved.

Weight has not changed.

Why the difference?

  • Maybe compare Heart Rate or check daily summary after the day ends to be sure it has all data.

When an activity is calm, then active calories may be less then calories for that activity.

  • Why the difference?

There is no direct relation between the number of steps and Calories. As long as your watch has a functional heart heart rate sensor, the heart rate is used for the Calories calculation. And then, the 7-days average Resting Heart Rate is a very important factor. So especially if you do not wear the watch during the sleep, the watch cannot get your accurate Resting HR, and hence the RHR fluctuates wildly, and in consequence the Active Calories will fluctuate wildly too.
