Does Garmin connect include imported swift files in fitness data

So I'm back in Garmin connect after a few years of riding my bike outdoors and using training peaks to get me up tp speed for a TT season

I'm over all that now but my indoor turbo rides are still a part of my activites

I now have a Garmin Fenix 7 and want to monitor my fitness / vo2 max / rest requirements - the whole thing basically as I love the data

my question is are my gps files uploaded via activity import included in my overall data and vo2 max ?

I have seen people importing FIT files, would they be better ?

  • I should add

my indoor setup is all Wahoo

    Kickr Core Turbo

    Kickr Cimb

    Kickr Headwind

and I have a Kick Bolt head computer

all connected via Apple TV to Wahoo RGT.

so it would appear from that list that I'm a bit of a Wahoo fanboy, but really I'm stating this as it saves anyone suggesting I use the Garmin Fenix 7 to record indoor rides.

For the Cycling VO₂max you do not need the GPS data, you need a power meter. GPS data is needed for running. So if you connect the power meter to a Garmin device, and record the rides with it, the VO₂max and all other training metrics will be updated (and you do not even need to import the Zwift file).

Although recording the activities with a Garmin device is preferable, to assure the uniformity an compatibility with outdoor data, Garmin Connect currently supports training metrics also from some 3rd parties: Tacx Training app, Zwift, ROUVY, TrainerRoad. Unfortunately no Swift - that works only for money transfers between banks Stuck out tongue winking eye

  • Thanks Trux

The kickr core has the power meter and that data all shows in strava so as above i dont want to also record via the fenix 7

my question is when i import the gpx file from strava does this data get included

GPX files do not contain any physio metrics data. Record the ride with your watch, or connect directly Zwift with Garmin Connect. Recording with the watch is definitely better.

  • they are linked but garmin support tell me that connect does not link data from other sources
