I actively plan courses in Garmin Connect.
Mostly for Trail running and new areas....
The elevation / total ascent is way off. It may seem minor buts is a very much a safety concern.
It helps me (and other that come for the run) to understand what the difficulty is, and plan for how much water and nutrient s to carry, also how long it will take....
Good examples are the following courses I have mapped out in Garmin Connect
- Middle Kobble Creek Falls + Piper Comanchie Wreck - Course in GC has 565m total ascent. Watch had just over 1000m, doing a true up it was 911M
- Ridge Circuit + Mt Gravatt lookout - Course in GC had 252m total ascent. Watch had 385m, doing a true up it was 320m
- Camp Mountain - Course in GC had 352m total ascent. Watch had 479m, doing a true up it was 406m
- Thylogale Track + Egernia Circuit - Course in GC had 117m total ascent. Watch had 255m, doing a true up it was 368m
Anyone else check the elevation / total ascent in Garmin Connect when planning a course to be totally out?
