about active calories Garmin Website or iOS APP

When I look at my active calories I find it on the Web site under Calories and when I do a Activity another Active Calories.

Now I do not understand where I can find the daily total of active calories.

As a sample today:

I find on the Calories place   1489 Total = 1185 Resting + 304 Active

On my 9.13km 2:04h walking activity I find 574 Total 429 Active Calories and 145 Resting Calories.

Do I have to add the two Active Calories in order to get the daily total or what exactly should I do?

Thanks and a happy new year with a lot of fun with the Garmin devices. Regards Paul

Make sure you re-synced the app and watch again, after completing the activity. If it does not help, force to close and restart the app, and sync again. If still no go, clear the cache of the app, or reinstall it. You can also try syncing with Garmin Express over the USB cable.

The all-day Active Calories as found on the Calories screen is normally always higher than the sum of Active calories from activities done in the given day. If it is not the case, the sync failed, was not completed, or there is a caching problem on the phone. If you do not manage to get it right with the above mentioned tips, please report it to the Support.

  • Hi trux, thanks for your answer.

Just to clarify it. So when I will look for the total amount of burned active calories it should be on the Reports -> Health & Fitness -> Calories.
This amount seams to be correct for my running activities.

But not for my walking activities, as the sum of them is higher then on the Calories page. But never mind.

  • The chart in Reports » Health & Fitness » Calories shows the sum of all Calories burned in the given day (or week, etc.). It means not only Active calories from Running activities, but also any other type of activities, and any other Active Calories burned throughout the day, regardless whether you record any activity or not. You burn Active Calories whenever your heart rate is higher than the Resting HR.

If the sum of Active Calories of your individual activities is higher than what the report shows for given day, then there is some problem, and you should report it to the Support. The Active Calories in the report are normally always higher than the sum of Active Calories from individual activities of that day, since you always burn some Active Calories also when not recording any activity.
