Garmin connect calorie sum up, rest calories and active calories

I think that Connect counts rest calories multiple time if you do some kind of activity.

In figure 1 is calorie consume of on one exercise:

active calories: 1660 kcal

Base(rest) calories: 203 kcal

And sum: 1863 kcal

In figure 2 is that same days sum up from my calorie consume.

Active calories: 1890 kcal

Base(rest) calories: 2358 kcal

Calorie sum up: 4248 kcal

It seems that day sum up counts twice base(rest) calories from activity.

On day sum up activity calories include active and rest(base) calories 1890 kcal (fig 2)

If the rest calories dont sum up twice the sum will be:

exersice active kalories 1660 kcal + Base calories of day 2358 kcal = 4018 kcal?

  • No, the Resting Calories are counted once from your body weight, gender and age. Active Calories are any Calories you burn throughout the day whenever your heart rate is higher than your Resting HR. Active Calories are not a sum of calories of your activities.

    Total calories sum up active + resting calories.

    Active calories includes all active and activity calories and resting calories include your RMR calories.

    Activity calories include total active and resting calories.

    Because during an activity you burn both Resting Calories and the Active Calories. You burn the Resting Calories all the time - that's the basal metabolic rate (resp. the Resting Metabolic Rate - RMR) needing to keep the body alive, and your body burns it all the time, regardless what you do. Active Calories are whatever you burn in excess of the RMR.

    So the Calories report for the activity and for the whole day are basically the same - showing the Resting and the Active Calories for given period of time - the duration of the activity, in case of a logged Activity, and the total time of the day (up to 24hr) in case of the all-day report.
