I have imported data from Fitbit and get the Import Complete message, but the data isn't visible. I have tried with .xls and .csv, and have the same issue, even if I limit the import to just Activities. Is this a known issue and is there a fix?

Thanks for the reply. I have now tried importing a single day and whilst it says Import Complete, I still can't find any record of that activity.
Below is an example of a single day that has apparently imported successfully. This is the lowest level of granularity that can be exported from Fitbit
Activities | |||||||||
Date | Calories Burned | Steps | Distance | Floors | Minutes Sedentary | Minutes Lightly Active | Minutes Fairly Active | Minutes Very Active | Activity Calories |
19/12/2022 | 2,698 | 6,843 | 4.62 | 21 | 521 | 195 | 7 | 60 | 1,436 |
I've now managed to find out how to export a single activity, but the .tcx file contains no useful data beyond the date and the activity type. Sadly, it would seem that whilst Garmin have method for loading a csv file exported from Fitbit, that process, whilst claiming to be successful, doesn't actually do anything and Fitbit doesn't generate .tcx files with sufficient data
the .tcx file contains no useful data beyond the date and the activity type.
Well, if that is true, then that's not Garmin's fault. Ask Fitbit to provide better data export, or whether it can export data in another of the supported data formats. What you presented is neither a body nor an activity CSV data file. Garmin only supports that.
There is no need for the tone of your last reply. I haven't blamed Garmin for what I can export from Fitbit, but as I have have pointed out, the loading of Fitbit activity data in the formats that you have mentioned above doesn't actually do anything. This statement also seems to be at odds with your initial post that it wasn't possible to load a list of activities, as when you export to .csv or.xls, the format I detailed is what you get. Thanks for your help anyway, I'll go back to using my Garmin for recording exercise
.. hm, I just checked the Support pages, and in fact Garmin Connect should be able to import this type of record. The article Import Activity and Body Data from Fitbit® | Garmin Customer Support tells:
Activity data
- This includes calories burned, steps, distance, active minutes, and floors climbed
Isn't it possible you did not notice the data indeed imported? What does the Daily Summary for the 19/12/2022 tells after the import?

Sorry if it sounded offensive, it was not intended

There is perhaps a discrepancy in the terminology. At Garmin, the term Activity is primarily being used for logged activities such as a Run, Walk, Hike, Swim, Cycling, Yoga, etc. Those can be indeed imported only individually, not as a list. The TCX file normally contains much more data than just the date and activity type. It contains the HR, track map, elevation profiles, etc, etc. You can review the data in the section Activities in Garmin Connect. Are you sure it was empty after the import?
As for the common daily activities, including calories, steps, activity minutes, etc - sorry, I was not even aware it was possible. If it is, then indeed importing multiple records at a time should be possible. I never tried with this type of data, but it works fine with the Body data, importing weight and body fat data - I use it frequently myself (although not having any fitbit device).
