This morning I had problems adding new gear to a recently-completed activity.
BACKSTORY:
I bought a new pair of hiking boots, went for a short hike this morning, came back, added the gear, but could not add it to the activity.
From Connect Web:
The new hiking boots intermittently showed up in the list, but clicking them did nothing. I can add any of the other shoes I have saved, but not these.
Tried:
- Removing and re-adding the gear, using different names (thinking there might be a conflict with an identical pair of hiking boots I have retired)
- Adding the gear from the activity in iOS (in this instance, I get a "Network Error" - not MY network as everything is connected fine. There are zero issues with my network currently).
- Reloading the page and the app several times, logging out & back in again.
None of those things worked.
I began to question whether there was a limit to how many items of gear you could store in Connect.
RESOLUTION:
Before posting this question, I decided to try one more thing. I went back to the Manage Gear section (web interface), edited the new hiking boots, setting the "First Use" date to yesterday, unchecking the boxes to automatically add to anything.
This allowed me to add the boots to this morning's hike.
I have 5 pairs of shoes, and various other gear, in my Connect app. I have NEVER had to back-date the first use of my gear in order to use it. Many times I have added gear after the fact and chose it from the list in past activities. I'm not sure why this is happening now.
In any event -
If you cannot add gear, try back-dating the First Use in the Manage Gear section and see if that solves the problem.
