Not so much of a find. I "work" with this since I'm running the site https://garminbadges.com and always analyze the data from Garmin.
Previously I've tried to inform the support about issues with the badges but I'm just getting the Swedish support that haven't got a clue about how the badges work and that it would be a good idea to fix the errors. Errors like this will create many many support cases which will cost money and time.

Yes, I understand your frustration. Perhaps you could consider registering an alternative Garmin account in the USA, and then getting in contact directly with the US Support headquarters. It is surprising, the Swedish support did not propose linking you directly to the US central.
It's not nice to find out that I've been looking forward to getting these two badges for so long and now I find out that there was a mistake and these two badges are old. I think that Garmin could be generous and give them to us this year too. It's not our fault. We were misled and during today's activities we believed that we will get these two badges. That's why I think we could and should get them. Otherwise it's quite a disappointment. Thanks

The Swedish support didn't understand that I knew what I was talking and tried to help me like I was a "normal" user. The support takes forever to reply so the issue was already resolved when they replied.
Another time I told them about incorrect Thanksgiving dates. Then I actually got a reply from the US support. They told me that they will fix that closer to Thanksgiving, but they didn't do that...
