How to see the time for a given distance

Hi ,

I like you connect web page, but one feature is really missing:
If I have a closer look to my activity I have to choose between time and distance which is shown, while scrolling through the activity.
How can I see for example the current time at km 30 after running a marathon? I can choose the distance 30 km, but cant see the time at this point anywhere.

There should be at least a field which shows the time at the chosen distance or maybe also a mixed view with time and distance in all graphs.

Hope this improvement can be part of one of the next versions of this web page.

Thanks and regards

Andreas

  • As a workaround, you can use the function Trim Activity in the cogwheel menu - trim the activity to the desired distance, and see the time at the top of the Trim screen. You can repeat it as many times as you need with different distances and/or starting points. You do not need to save the trimmed activity, but even if it happens by mistake, you can always restore the original. The trim feature is fully reversible.

    1. I would use https://www.runalyze.com for this. It's a free website that syncs with your Garmin account and gives you a lot more data.

One of the things you can do is temporarily set manual laps based on arbitrary times or distances. So you can set a lap at 30 km and see all your stats up to that point, including time.

If you want to be able to hover over a graph and see both distance and time, this only works for the Power graph, for some reason.

Only downsides other than that are the experience on mobile isn't great (although it works) and there's no app.

    2. You could also sync with Strava for free and use the website - in this case you can hover over the pace graph and see both distance and time. Unfortunately that feature is not available in the Strava app.

    3. If you really want to see both time and distance in Garmin Connect (the website), I have a Connect IQ data field called AppBuilder 5 that can help with this. Use the following settings:

      - Label: Time
      - Formula: timer
      - Display Format: Time
      - Record Data to FIT file: Yes

This will record the activity time in seconds to the FIT file, so you can view metric graphs by distance in Garmin Connect but still see the time.

      Downsides:

      - This wastes a precious spot for CIQ data fields in your activity (you only get 2)

      - The time on the graph will be in seconds, so you have to do the math yourself
