Show all Garmin activities on a map or search after location?

Hi guys,

title says it all, I do have like 6 years of Garmin activities and know I did that one hike at a specific location and can't search for it in Garmin connect (search after location) nor can I manually select it on a map where all activities are displayed.

Do you guys have a solution to this problem?
Thanks!

  • and can't search for it in Garmin connect (search after location)

Why exactly? The location name was not in the title, or you do not remember it, or is there another problem with the search?

  • I live in a bigger post code sector near the alps where all Mountainbike Rides and Hikes have the same location reference in the Name so yes, that's the problem if I am looking for a specific one I know I did but can't remember when.

  • OK, I see. Perhaps you can use a combination of the parameters in the Advanced Search (for example the date range, distance, or the elevation gain) to localize it better. You can also sort the list by individual columns (i.e. by speed, time, etc.) - it may also help.

Personally, I always write notes to my activities, and the search works with the notes too, so if you made a note, you can find the activity by typing a matching expression.

  • If you also use Strava you can use https://www.findthatride.com

The free version will only show the last 50 activities (all types). Subscription is only $5/year. It works really good.

For runs only you can use https://citystrides.com

I don't know if you can use it for free to find runs or if you need to pay. I'm a subscriber so I can't test.

That works with Garmin and Strava. Only use one service. I use it with Garmin.

  • One way are Segments, but for longer time now, those are auto added only for new activities, earlier you could create one and get complete list with old activities which crossed it. But it's still good to create Segments, so you can easier track future runs. You can also try Scan for Segments on older activities, but it needs to be done for each activity. Though, activities need to be labeled as run or bike.

Or export all activities as ZIP from the main page: Profile -> Manage Data. Then you can open them in some mapping software, convert to other format if needed.

  • This is kinda ridiculous that a gps mapping solution cannot search for a past activity based on a specific coordinate location.  I use my garmin for trail running and exploration and when I want to go back 5 years to a place I explored before I can't find it.  So dumb
