Repair Corrupted triathlon fit file

Hi,

Can maybe someone please help me repair my corrupted FIT file so I can manually upload it to Garmin Connect? It has been saved on my watch but doesn't upload to Garmin Connect. I tried some applications but none of them can repair it as a triathlon file.

Some suggestions to help minimize the occurrence of corrupt fit files:

Sync your watch then remove all activity fit files from the device using these directions - Removing Recorded Activities on a Garmin Fitness Device
Regularly check for firmware updates using Garmin Express
Please report back here when you encounter corrupted files again

HRM-Pro, HRM-Tri, and HRM-Swim will sometimes corrupt activity fit files

Update the HRM-Pro firmware How Do I Update the HRM-Pro Software Using the Garmin Connect App?
Note that HR data download after the activity is usually for swimming or when for some reason you could not wear your watch during an activity.
During the HRM-Pro download process keep the strap and watch in close proximity
If issues persist even after the firmware update, contact Garmin Support.

Hi seilogramp,

Can you help me again? I did a Zwift workout but the application crashed after almost 30 minutes. I could restart the app and resume the workout to make it 45 minutes. But I can't download the 45 min version FIT file. That one is corrupted. Can you combine them for me? Thanks a lot.

There were 3 files in the zip, the 2 corrupt versions have only 1 kb of data. I can't do much with these.

Thanks for checking. I downloaded the files in Zwift. I attached a screenshot of the log and fit files and the two workouts I'm able to see in Zwift. Do you know any other way to get to the right files?

Hi seilogramp,

I used Gotoes (with my advanced account, selected FIT file as output) trying to combine two FIT files downloaded directly from Garmin, because I accidently stopped my cycling workout in between and I want to make it one file. But some data isn't right. For example the avg power is more then the averages from both files, which can't obviously be right.

Can you do it? And maybe share a screenshot of the setting you use?

I used FIT File Tools file combiner, and came up with this - 6483454-combined.zip

Total avg power came out to be 215 W. The longer activity is 215 W. The shorter activity is 196 W. Not sure if this is any better than what you already had.

Thanks very much for helping. The avg power should be 211W. When uploaded automatically in Strava it picks up the right avg, so that's strange. Thanks anyway for helping. Much appreciated.

Hi, I came across the same issue. My triathlon activity is not syncing from my forerunner 965.

I tried to install the program but all the setup is a bit daunting.

Would you be able to help fix the file?

Fixed using Fit File Repair Tool. See above regarding suggestions with the HRM.
