Cycling - create and share course without personal data

I want to create a course (route?) from a route that I cycled, upload it to ridewithgps, and have a tcx file that I can email to friends.  It is on my Garmon 1030+ as a ride.

BUT - I want to share only the route info but not the personal data.  No one else has to know how painfully slow I was on the ride, my speed, elapsed time, and other data.  I want to share ONLY the course/route.

Any suggestions/directions on how to do that?

  • Open your activity and from the gear icon - choose option to create a course. Then you can edit speed/pace and change/add parts of a route.

I compared GPX from one activity and from its course in some mapping program - speed from course was strange, so probably original speed is removed. But I haven't checked what's inside the file, so you would need to compare its contents to be sure.

  • Create a course in Garmin Connect. Go to the activity in Garmin Connect Web and click Save as Course. When you create the course you can write any goal speed you like. Then download the GPX and upload to RideWithGps or just send the link to the course in Garmin Connect. Remember to make the course public if you do it that way.

  • Why not just export it as a GPX file?

  • Convert to a course and then export as GPX.

GPX directly from an activity keeps original speed.

  • Didn't know that. I usually open the GPX in Basecamp to look at it, and tweak it if necessary, before I send it on.
