Feature request: activities available for friends without GPS data/map

Hello,

Garmin, could you add additionla field in Privacy Options: Activities available to see by my friends but without any location data (no city name, map, ect)? Every other info could stay in this option. Unless I missed it but looked everywhere I could.

Regards Rafal

  • That would make sense, as probably a lot of users set activities private because not wanting to share exact location.

Indeed, currently there is no such option, but you can set privacy zones to hide some part of a route - I haven't tested it, maybe if you create large privacy zones, then maybe it will hide whole map, so you can try it.

Also you can set title without location, though you'll lost it for yourself too.

Or you can show a summary/chart of distance by month on your profile, but that's just minimal info without any other data.

So would be better to add proper option to hide location - which would hide only: title (which often contains city name), map and segments/courses.

  • Garmin should really implement this option. I'm asking for this since years.

  • Not an ideal solution, but as a workaround, if you use sync to Strava, you can share the Strava activity instead. In Strava you can use the function Edit Map Visibility, disabling the map entirely or partially. The title at Strava does not include the location by default, after syncing from Garmin, so that's not an issue. Additionally you can also hide some metrics, like the HR or pace, etc.
