Garmin Connect / Forerunner 45 - Can I copy / paste an Activity to another day?

Hi All,

Can I copy / paste (or similar) an Activity to another day?

For example I have created a detailed "Strength Activity" (33 sets incl. reps and weight etc.) and want to repeat that Activity on another day. Instead of re-inserting all the information, is there a copy / paste function and then just edit date and time?

I find it hard to believe this function does not exist,so I am obviously missing something.

Any help appreciated.

  • You could hack with exporting, editing, and reimporting the activity, but I would rather suggest creating a Workout, and then executing the workout. It will be then saved with the true data, and not with faked copied data from another day. I see no sense in having old data for new activities. That would completely eliminate the sense of having a fitness watch.

  • thanks, , much appreciated.

Is it too much trouble to ask follow up question?

I have also experimented with creating a Workout. I add it to my Calendar etc. but it only shows up as a Workout and is not reflected in Reports or Activities. Do I need to do "something" to activate it in Reports, Activities etc.?

Apologies for the noob question, but I am trying to get my round the most efficient way to record and track progress.

  • Apologies for the noob question,

No problem, happy to help. When you upload the workout to the watch, you then have to "do the workout" on the watch, when you are starting the Activity. I am not familiar with the FR45, but normally you go to the Activity menu, scroll to he activity type (Strength in your case), then long-press the Menu button, select Training » Workouts » your workout » Do Workout. Please note that the workout must be created as a Strength type, to appear in the list of Strength workouts! Won't work with type Other, Pilates, Yoga, etc.

  • I think like the FR55, the 45 does not have native strength activities. You have to create them in disguise as a run or cycle activity, send it to your watch then when you've done the activity and it's uploaded you rename as Strength in GC Confused It's a bit of a faff but possible. I spent ages creating strength workouts in GC only to discover they can't be sent to the watch. A helpul forum member told me how to get around that. Once you hve created a workout you can add it to your calendar however many times you want, one by one though - there doesn't seem to be an ádd every Thursday' (or whatever) option.

  • thank you again, , you are a superstar. After some investigation it turns out that the F45 does not support this function (for Strength training, at least).......
