Regularly Need to Sign In to Garmin Connect

Previously I was having an issue accessing the Garmin Connect web site in which I would get stuck on the SSO page. See here for the details: https://forums.garmin.com/apps-software/mobile-apps-web/f/garmin-connect-web/288326/trouble-connecting-to-garmin-connect-web/1391431#1391431

That appears to be fixed, and I received an email from Garmin support to that effect. However, now there seems to be a different (but possibly related) issue whereby I have to login regularly when visiting the Garmin Connect web site. I do not have anything deleting cookies or web site settings, and I have manually deleted history, cookies, and web site data to see if that helped, but it didn't. Is anyone else seeing the login page on a regular basis lately?

I have sent a message to Garmin support about this issue and am awaiting their reply.

  • Try reloading the page. Try clearing the temporary internet files. Try deleting cookies. Try disabling all plugins (esp. spam blockers). Try with an alternative browser

  • Done, done, done, done, and done.

Nothing helps. I've tried via Safari 15.4 on macOS 12.3.1 and Edge 101.0.1210.39 on Windows 10.

  • Try another Internet connection, to exclude that your IP address is being blacklisted or blocked by CloudFlare

If this were the case, I would expect to never reach Garmin Connect. I can, it's just that Garmin requires that I login almost every time I visit. This is new as of a week or so ago.

They use a multitude of servers for load balancing, and for diverse subservices, and often on different subdomains. Each of them may be protected in a different way. It may be also some local routing problem for one of the servers. So it can easily happen, that only one part of the functionality is affected. That's why I am suggesting testing an alternative connection, sing a different ISP.

  • You can also open Console of the DevTools (F12 in most browsers), and look for connection errors there

I'll give that a shot once I get to a location where I actually have cellular data.

  • I just logged an attempt to connect to Garmin Connect, and I ended up logging 5 warnings and 13 errors. Four of the warnings were for backendConnector failures, and one was a warning that certain elements were preloaded and not used. The errors were 403, 404, and 502 errors resulting in resource loading errors. I'll send this along to Garmin.

  • Well, there are plenty of errors that are normal. For example all those SourceMaps will trigger an error, but it is expected, and not harming any functionality. Some other http calls like the web-translation service may trigger an error too. There should be something else, beside, that could give you a better clue. Anyway, it is almost certainly something local, because generally, there are no connectivity problems with Garmin Connect now - we would see many reports here, if it were so.
